Cellulite Treatment.

No. 1 Overview

Cellulite Treatment.

Cellulite is a very common condition in which fat beneath the skin pushes up between compartments of connective tissue, creating an orange peel look on the surface. It is far more frequent in women because those connective tissue compartments run vertically, and it can be present even in slim people. That is why treating cellulite as a weight problem is misleading. The aim of cellulite treatment is to reduce this appearance and let the skin surface read more evenly.

Why cellulite develops

No single cause explains the picture. Genetic predisposition, hormonal balance and oestrogen in particular, slowed circulation and lymphatic flow beneath the skin, long periods of inactivity, rapid weight changes and thinning skin with age all play a part together. This is why cellulite shows up in different grades and different patterns from one person to the next. In some it only becomes visible when the skin is pinched; in others it is apparent while simply standing.

Which areas are considered

  • The back and outer surface of the thighs
  • The buttocks and the fold beneath them
  • The outer hips and lateral thigh line
  • The lower abdomen
  • The back of the upper arms

Who it suits, and who needs closer assessment

Treatment is considered for people bothered by the appearance of an area whose expectations are realistic. Response is generally easier to judge in people whose weight is stable, whose skin elasticity is preserved and whose cellulite is not advanced, though this too varies from person to person. Where there is significant skin laxity or considerable excess weight, cellulite treatment alone may not meet expectations, and the plan is structured differently.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding, active skin infection or eczema in the treatment area, bleeding disorders or blood thinner use, uncontrolled chronic illness, advanced varicose veins and a history of deep vein thrombosis all call for careful assessment. These distinctions are made through a medical examination.

How a session proceeds

  • The area is examined standing, with the muscles both tensed and relaxed; the grade of cellulite, skin thickness and any accompanying fat deposit are assessed separately.
  • We establish whether the complaint comes mainly from surface irregularity or from excess volume, and the method is chosen accordingly.
  • The skin is cleaned and the treatment area is marked.
  • The planned application is carried out on the area. Warmth, tingling or mild pressure at this stage is normal.
  • A cold application or gentle massage may follow at the end of the session.
  • The session is completed in an outpatient setting and daily life can usually resume the same day.

When the effect appears and how long it lasts

Change in the look of cellulite emerges gradually across sessions held at regular intervals rather than after one visit. That is why the programme is planned as a whole from the start and why keeping to the schedule matters. The number and spacing of sessions depend on the grade of cellulite, the area and how the individual responds.

Cellulite is a structural condition and is not removed completely. Maintaining any improvement depends on stable weight, regular movement and occasional maintenance sessions. Results vary from person to person, and no outcome is promised in advance.

Aftercare and what to watch for

  • Temporary redness, warmth or tenderness can appear in the area and settles quickly.
  • Drinking plenty of water supports lymphatic flow and is worth keeping up between sessions.
  • Walking and moving through the day helps more than long hours spent seated.
  • Avoid hot showers, saunas and steam baths for the first twenty four hours.
  • Reducing salt intake can help keep fluid retention in check.
  • Very tight clothing and sitting cross legged for long stretches can work against circulation in the area.

Points that are often confused

Cellulite and localised fat are frequently mixed up. Localised fat is about volume and feels like a thick layer when pinched; cellulite is about surface irregularity and can occur in slim people. When both are present, the programme is structured to address each.

Another common expectation is that a single session will produce a marked improvement. Cellulite treatment is a process and requires patience. It also helps to know that creams, massage devices and diet alone do not resolve the structural irregularity. To work out which programme suits you, an assessment visit at the clinic in Nişantaşı is needed.

No. 2 Process

The process step by step

From consultation to the review visit, every stage is planned in advance. An unhurried, transparent flow.

01

Consultation

The grade, pattern and location of cellulite are assessed while standing; skin thickness and any accompanying fat deposit are reviewed separately. It is made clear from the outset that cellulite is structural and is not removed completely.

02

Planning and prep

We establish whether the complaint comes from surface irregularity or excess volume, and choose the method accordingly. The number and spacing of sessions are planned as a programme from the start, the skin is cleaned and the area is marked.

03

Application

The planned application is carried out on the area. Warmth, tingling or mild pressure at this stage is normal. The session is completed in an outpatient setting and daily life can usually resume the same day.

04

Aftercare and review

Drinking plenty of water, staying active through the day and reducing salt intake support the programme. At review visits the change in the area is followed and the plan is updated if needed. Results vary from person to person.

No. 01 Does cellulite go away completely?

Because cellulite relates to the structure of the connective tissue beneath the skin, it is not a condition that can be removed completely. The aim is to reduce the orange peel look and let the skin surface read more evenly. Setting the expectation correctly from the start is what makes the difference in satisfaction. Results vary from person to person and no outcome is promised in advance.

No. 02 Which areas are treated?

It is most often considered for the back and outer thighs, the buttocks, the fold beneath them and the outer hips. The lower abdomen and the back of the upper arms are sometimes included as well. Which area comes first depends on how pronounced the complaint is and which area bothers you most. The suitable area and method are decided together during the visit.

No. 03 How many sessions are needed?

Cellulite treatment is not a single session procedure but a programme carried out at regular intervals. The number and spacing of sessions are planned according to the grade of cellulite, the area and how you respond. Structuring the programme as a whole from the start and keeping to the schedule directly affects the outcome. Results vary from person to person.

No. 04 What helps maintain the result?

Keeping your weight stable, moving regularly and drinking plenty of water through the day help maintain any improvement. Sitting still for long stretches and a high salt intake can increase fluid retention in the area and work against the appearance. For some people, maintenance sessions at intervals may be suggested. Advice specific to you is shared at the end of the programme.

No. 05 Why do I have cellulite even though I am slim?

Cellulite is not a weight problem but a matter of how fat tissue sits between compartments of connective tissue beneath the skin. In women those compartments run vertically, so fat pushes toward the surface more easily and can be visible even in slim people. Genetic predisposition, hormonal balance and slowed circulation also contribute. This is why losing weight alone does not remove the appearance of cellulite.

No. 06 What is the difference between cellulite and localised fat?

Localised fat is about volume; when you pinch the area you feel a thick layer, and it shows up in circumference measurements. Cellulite is about irregularity of the skin surface and can be present even when the fat layer is thin. The two often coexist, and in that case the programme is built to address both. Making this distinction correctly is what allows the right method to be chosen.

No. 07 Do creams and massage devices work?

Moisturisers and massage can temporarily improve how the skin looks and support circulation. They do not, however, change the structural irregularity beneath the skin, so on their own they are not a lasting solution. Alongside clinical treatment, consistent home care can be supportive. Which products suit you is discussed during your visit.
