Brow Lift (Threads).

No. 1 Overview

Brow Lift (Threads).

Brow lift with threads is a suspension treatment that gently supports a descending brow tail and brow line using self dissolving threads. There is no incision and it is not a surgical brow lift. The aim is an understated opening of the eye area and a measured lift that respects the balance between the two brows.

Why the brow tail descends

The outer third of the brow relies on the supporting tissues of the forehead and temple. Over the years the collagen and elastic fibre network in this region weakens, the temple loses volume, and the brow tail settles slightly lower. The result can be a feeling of heaviness in the upper eyelid, a weighed down gaze and a generally tired expression. In some people a mild asymmetry that was always present becomes more visible with age. A brow lift with threads does not rebuild the tissue; it supports what is already there, slightly upward, in a defined direction.

Situations where it is considered

  • A brow tail that sits low on the outer side and makes the gaze look tired.
  • Asymmetry between the brows that bothers the person.
  • A mild sense of heaviness or closure in the upper eyelid.
  • A wish for extra lift along the brow line after botulinum toxin treatment.
  • People who are not considering surgical brow lifting and want an option with a short recovery.

Who is a suitable candidate

The treatment tends to behave more predictably when skin elasticity is reasonably preserved and the laxity is mild to moderate. In people with very thick forehead skin, marked excess skin, or medically advanced eyelid drooping, threads may add little, and options such as eyelid surgery are discussed instead. Pregnancy and breastfeeding, an active skin infection at the temple, medication that increases bleeding tendency, uncontrolled systemic conditions and a known sensitivity to thread material all call for a more careful assessment. The decision follows an individual plan and a medical evaluation.

How a session goes

The examination looks at the position of the brow tail, how the forehead muscles work and the difference between the two sides. Entry points at the temple and thread directions are then marked. The skin is cleaned with antiseptic and local anaesthetic is applied at the entry points. Threads are placed under the skin through a fine cannula or needle and the brow tail is supported upward in a balanced way. Both sides are compared for symmetry, the thread ends are trimmed and the entry points are closed. The session is completed in an outpatient setting and you go home the same day.

Onset and duration of the effect

Most people notice the lift as soon as the session ends. Mild swelling and tightness can affect the look in the first days, so a clear assessment is made a few weeks later. As the threads dissolve, the supportive effect gradually fades and usually lasts a few months. Duration depends on thread type, skin thickness, expression habits, smoking and sun exposure. Results vary from person to person, so no fixed duration or appearance is promised.

What to pay attention to afterwards

  • Keep strong expressions such as raising the brows or squinting to a minimum in the first days.
  • Do not apply pressure to the temple and limit sleeping face down or on your side early on.
  • Postpone face massage, aggressive peels and device treatments over the area for a few weeks.
  • Heavy exercise, sauna and steam rooms are not suitable in the first week.
  • Keep the entry points clean and dry and wait for the interval your doctor gives before wearing make up.
  • Contact the clinic if you have unexpected pain, increasing swelling or redness.

Points that are often confused

Brow threads and botulinum toxin are frequently thought of as interchangeable. Toxin relaxes a muscle and gives an indirect sense of lift, while threads support the tissue mechanically, and in some people the two are planned together. A second confusion is between a brow lift and fox eyes: a brow lift focuses mainly on the brow tail, whereas fox eyes also orients the outer eye corner upward. Finally, threads do not produce a permanent brow lift. The effect is temporary and any repeat is planned after a fresh examination.

No. 2 Process

The process step by step

From consultation to the review visit, every stage is planned in advance. An unhurried, transparent flow.

01

Consultation

The position of the brow tail, how the forehead muscles work and the symmetry between the brows are assessed. Your medical history, medication and expectations are discussed.

02

Planning and prep

Temple entry points and thread directions are marked with symmetry in mind, the skin is cleaned with antiseptic and local anaesthetic is applied.

03

Application

Threads are placed under the skin with a fine cannula or needle, the brow tail is supported upward evenly, and symmetry is checked by comparing both sides.

04

Aftercare and review

You are asked to avoid strong expressions and pressure on the temple in the first days. A review visit is planned within a few weeks, once the tissue has settled.

No. 01 How does it differ from a surgical brow lift?

A thread brow lift involves no incision; self dissolving threads are placed under the skin through a fine entry point. Surgery can remove excess tissue and reposition deeper structures. That is why the lift threads give is more measured and temporary. Which option suits you is assessed together during the visit.

No. 02 Is the procedure painful?

Local anaesthetic is applied to the entry points beforehand, so sharp pain is not expected during the procedure. Most people describe only mild tightness, pressure or a pulling sensation. Some tenderness at the temple is common in the first days afterwards. If anything feels uncomfortable during the session, simply tell your doctor.

No. 03 How long does the effect last?

As the threads dissolve, the supportive effect fades gradually and usually lasts a few months. The duration depends on thread type, skin thickness, expression habits, smoking and sun exposure. For that reason no single timeframe applies to everyone. Results vary from person to person.

No. 04 Who is it not suitable for?

The treatment is postponed or reconsidered during pregnancy and breastfeeding, when there is an active skin infection at the temple, and for people taking medication that increases bleeding tendency. Uncontrolled systemic conditions and a known sensitivity to thread material also need attention. In people with marked excess skin, threads may add little. Suitability is established only by a medical examination.

No. 05 Can it be combined with botulinum toxin?

In many people the two complement each other around the brow: toxin relaxes the muscle while threads support the tissue mechanically. The order and interval are planned individually, and doing both in the same session is not always appropriate. That decision is made during the visit. Planning is individual and results vary from person to person.

No. 06 When can I go back to work?

Most people return to their routine the same day or the next. In the first days there can be mild swelling, tenderness and occasionally small bruises at the entry points, which usually settle quickly. Heavy exercise, sauna and steam rooms are not suitable in the first week. Recovery speed varies from person to person.

No. 07 Can the threads be felt under the skin?

Some people describe mild tightness or a thread like sensation at the temple in the first days. This usually eases as the tissue settles. If you feel a visible irregularity or persistent discomfort, it is best to book a review visit. Any adjustment needed is made by your doctor after that assessment.
